The setup of the problem of learning from examples.
VC dimension and VC theory.
Foundations of regression, classification, and density estimation within  statistical learning theory.
Support Vector Machines:
Optimal hyperplane classficiation machines.
Support vectror machines.
Kernels and kernel machines.
Applications of Statistical Learning Theory:
setting up within the statistical learning theory problems beyond   classification and regression.
Modeling preferences, anomaly detection,
Applications to large dimenensional learning problems: computer vision,     text mining, bioinformatics, finance, marketing, operations research, etc.
