Thessaloniki

Modern Thessaloniki is a metropolis of over a million inhabitants. Its pleasant situation on the Thermaikos Gulf and its mountain backdrop offer its visitors a variety of options. Rich in history and culture, the picturesque old town, a vast seafront, modern shaded avenues and squares, smart shops and lively nightlife allure the most discerning visitor. A thriving industrial and commercial centre, with two universities and the International Trade Fair is the second largest city and port in Greece. Thessaloniki is located in northern Greece, in the province of Macedonia, 500 Kms north of Athens. Within easy reach of several significant archaeological sites, such as Pella, Vergina and Dion, and of course a short drive away from the idyllic beaches of Halkidiki.
